DropBrigt® DL-MA(Mandelic acid )is a kind of α -hydroxy acid containing aromatic group, the molecular formula is C6H5CH(OH)CO2H. It is a white crystalline solid, soluble in water and polar organic solvents.
Molecular Structure
Mandelic acid has a molecular weight of about 152.1 Dalton, which is larger than other hydroxyl acids (e.g. glycolic acid, 76.0 Dalton).
This molecular weight allows mandelic acid to penetrate the skin more slowly, making it very mild and suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin.
It is a precursor to various medicines. Mandelic acid has a long history of use in medicine as an antibacterial agent, especially in the treatment of urinary tract infections.
